Well, after a tilting day I caved and checked my results. I started out by just checking the results of today but then just decided that I might as well check the overall results now and split the month in half. It really wasn’t just a moment of losing self control and having a huge urge to check…the truth is that I was originally thinking of checking mid-month and as some of you may have seen on twitter, I accidentally saw my USD bankroll while registering for a SCOOP event a couple of days ago. I don’t know precisely how many EUR I have on Stars but I was pretty much able to ballpark my results after that point anyways.
Looking forward, I am planning on once again not checking my results until the very end of the month and have put Table Ninja to use so that I will snap-register for tournaments without flashing my bankroll (a feature that I was not really aware of until after the beforementioned incident). So far I’ve seen so many benefits to not thinking about my results…I’ve been playing really well have managed to put in the kind of volume that I was hoping for. I’ve been playing mostly 100nl, along with a decent amount of 200nl and a very minimal amount of 400nl. I think that I will more or less scrap 400nl for the rest of the month since the only tilt that I’ve felt in May is when I lose a big pot at that limit (because it largely dictates how my session goes and is very deflating to lose what feels like a 400bb pot since I’m mostly playing 100nl). I’ll probably still keep an eye on the lobby but the game will have to look very juicy for me to jump on the table.
Anyways, time to talk about the results! Here’s the graph:
So I’m up close to $3K, despite running below EV for the pretty much the entire month. I feel pretty good about this number but I will be playing even more hands in the 2nd half of the month than I did in the first half-so a lot will change by the 31st.
Probably the most promising report tab for me this month is the daily results. As you can see, I’ve only booked 3 losing days (one only a couple of buy-ins) and those big losses are just due to EV. My biggest losing day, May 5th, shows that I’m down $867.45 but I should actually be UP some money if I ran at expectation. Anyways, I’m definitely not dwelling on running poorly…actually quite the opposite, I feel reinforced about how well I’m playing at the moment and hopefully I can continue to add on the profit that I’ve started to accumulate this month. Here’s a breakdown of how I’m doing at the different stakes:
As you can see, I’m pretty much crushing 100nl as much as you can. Things are going awful at 200nl but once again that’s all due to EV (and small sample size).
The weather is getting absolutely beautiful in Vancouver right now. I’m going to have to actually start waking up early so that I can get in some hands and still enjoy the day outside. I’ve been playing a bit of tennis with my roommate Mark at some nearby public courts and am getting excited about getting a bike. I borrowed a bike on the weekend and rode around Stanley Park along the beach with my brother…there were so many people doing the same thing and aside from having to dodge people left, right and center it was a ton of fun. I’ve already got visions in my head of packing a few beers, food and a football and biking down to the beach with some buddies to make a day of it. I’m thinking about picking up a simple bike like this…perfect for cruising around the city:
They sell for around $600 but I might be able to get a bit of a deal because my brother’s roommate works for the company.
In other news, I have another video coming out for Ultimate Grinders this week and am working on 2 more to come out in June. I also did a live training session for PokerSchoolOnline this Sunday and will be holding another one this Sunday at 14:00 EST. Finally, I will be hosting the Final Tables of all of the SCOOP 26 events tomorrow, as well as the SCOOP 28 events on Wednesday. I’ll be on twitter looking for witty one-liners to use as people bust if you want to help me out lol…
gl at the tables!
